I feel like such a girl! I bought 3 pairs of shoes today! Me!!! How awesome is that. Even though they are practical and needed....

Start NSPower tomorrow. That should be good. Getting ready for the big exam on Tuesday - eek!

Also!!!! I got my first professional hair straightening iron last night. Super excited to try it out. Today is my last day with curly hair! Can you believe it?!?!

So much to do today - and have to get to bed early tonight too. As if that'll happen. LOL

29 in 3 days....

This is me.... not wanting to study. Yup. This is me. Playing around online not wanting to study. What's so important to know about muscles anyway?

I'd much rather do other things. Like find out where to go to get my Polio vaccine re-done (I know, I know, of all things). I would even rather fold laundry than study. What does that tell you?

Muscles, schmuscles. They're not important!

*sigh*

So, H1N1. What does everyone think about that?

I don't want to study.....

Studied out. And now going to bed. The last 3 days have been nothing but studying, and more studying. This is exam is definately 'testing' me. Plus I just realized I have an assignment due Thursday, and a discussion forum thing due Friday for the other class. Where's the time, I ask you. Where?

300 days until the wedding. Wahoo!

Friday Night

Today I bought myself some scubs, so I'm hanging out in them (yay). I got a bunch of hair chopped off, in preparation for the thermal reconditioning next week, and I'm loving it. Make Rice Krispie Treats - yum. going to settle in and watch Mad Men - yay!

Life is good. And I look damn good in my scrubs.

Appreciation

Thank you for allowing me to interview you Ladies! It was a great help! You're the berry bestest!

Interviewing People

So for my Into to Nursing Course I have to interview some people on values, so I'm interviewing Melissa and Maren. I came up with some pretty great questions (if I do say so myself) and I'm looking forward to going through them tonight. They're pretty general questions, mixed with a few controversial topics, and I can't wait to hear what others have to say!

Who knew school could be enjoyable? lol

Not enjoyable: Teaching yourself anatomy and physiology. It's weird - I thought I would enjoy that class the most - learning what everything is and what it does, but it's not. I enjoy nursing fundamentals more. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy to learn it, but the text is so dry, and the material so vast, it's a little daunting, and has become more stressful than enjoyable.

I stopped in to NSCC today and talked to my Instructor, and she said a lot of people in the class are stressing over our upcoming ANAP midterm. That's all fine and stuff, but I'm on the verge of panic - not stress. Argh.

I'm really looking forward to our Nursing Skills Lab after Christmas. I think it should be fun. I get to be in scrubs (and white shoes) and do some hands on nurses learning. Should be great!

I interviewed at Eastlink today. I don't think it's my cup of tea, but they want to hire me. If NSPower gets to me first, they can have me. Either way, I won't be unemployed for more than a couple of weeks now. Also, I saw a couple of military contracts open up, so that's grabbed my attention. A regular nice paycheck would be great to have again!

Wondering if the Halifax girls and I are planning to exchange gifts again this year? I saw something in a store the other day that made me want to buy it for one of them. Hmmm..... We should chat about that!

I'm getting the Christmas twitch. I want to do some shopping soon. We aren't doing much this year though - our families will be getting our engagement photo. But there's kids to shop for this year, and Travis, Tasha and Tycho (Adam's brother, wife and son) will be here - so that should be wonderful. Plus - I'll have my very own Christmas tree this year! So exciting!

I have my consultation for my hair on Friday. I'm so excited. I've been looking at every woman I see on the street, trying to think of hairstyles that will be possible for me now. It's so exciting!

Well - need to eat before I interview peeps in half an hour.

Argh.

Okay - so I finally get Microsoft Office Suite installed in the computer, and I want to use Access to make a database to track wedding stuff - except I can't figure it out! This is oh-so-frustrating!

Argh.

You know what I've discovered the last couple of days? Being off a sleep schedule, and not getting enough of it, really screws with a person.

Good point of the day - made really awesome gluten-free pizza.

Access - I hate you.

Good morning!

Good morning everyone!

Wow - I'm perky this morning, and I don't know why. But perhaps I have a few reasons, let's see...

Last night I had my final obligatory massage with Massage Addict. I have been a member for a year now. I saw my favorite massage therapist, Lucille. I ended up asking her if she does massage on the side, but she said she doesn't.

Anyway, as it turns out, she's going to be getting married, which is new. She's in the same position as I was in May - the ring is chosen, but not yet officially offered, and she is so excited, and starting to plan. I know the exact feeling she has right now. So, for the first time, I spent the whole massage chatting incessantly, all about wedding stuff. It was fun!

By the end of the session, we had exchanged emails. I added her to Facebook when I got home and get this - most of you have met her! She's friends with Jenn, and she was at her birthday last year at taboo - you are all in the same pictures. How funny is that???

Small world I guess.

Then Adam and I had a wonderful stroll to and from the massage place. It was cold, but a brisk type of cold that is almost refreshing, if you know what I mean.

Then I was in bed by 10. Yeah, I'm a little ol' lady, but I don't mind. Sleep and I are old friends... we miss each other dearly when we spend less than 8 hours together.

Also, I got 100% on my first Intro to Nursing assignment. And I lost another pound. So, all in all, life is going well today.

I have one interview tomorrow, and two assignments due, so I have to study all night. Also, I'm supposed to work this weekend at the armouries.

Busy busy!
Money money!

XOXO

Meh - That's Life

So I've been working as a temp with Eastlink the last few weeks. It's been pretty good - I've been able to socialize with people - you have no idea how awesome that is! But that term is quickly coming to an end. Everyone else was sent home yesterday, less myself and one other woman. I take that as a good sign of my work. I did apply for a position that they have here, but who knows?

Last week I interviewed for a position with Emera. It sounded like I would have been really excellent at it, and I interviewed strongly for it. Unfortunately, I found out today that I didn't get it. Phooey.

I did get an interview with NS Power, on Friday, for a term position until end of December. Some sort of customer service project they are doing. Regular hours, 12$/hr, Mon-Fri. That would be okay to get me through the holidays.

And the Corps of Commissionaires is calling me. I applied there in September, because I've been one before, and I already have one of their training certificates. So heck, if I need to pay bills, who am I to argue? So I applied, and they're calling. I haven't been able to reach the woman to call her back today, but I did leave her a voicemail. I'll try again tomorrow.

And the Canadian Blood Services is hiring again. I'm applying again too. But I know a girl with a BSc in Bio that is also applying. Who do you think will win?

Stupid job market. I'm a damn good worker, with a lot of experience and knowledge behind me. This sucks the big one!

Such a long week. Fill everyone in later. But for now - super sleepy (at 9:52 pm on a Friday night) and I'm heading to bed.

BUT, I will say this. I had a great end to the week. Thanks Tina and Adam. You guys are the best!

Tomorrow: gym, lean, cook, study, car hospital, and making time for a walk in the park. And I am truly looking forward to it.

Happy long weekend everyone!

Working for the weekend....

It's Friday! And I'm glad it is.

Being back to work has been great. Did I ever mention how much I missed the day to day human interaction? But this getting up early stuff....it's been awhile, and this weekhas been crazy busy, so hopefully next week will run a but smoother.

I found out that the job I'm at now (via a temp agency) could end as early as Thursday, or go longer nd we would be working over Thanksgiving weekend. I'm not sure which one to root for - I need to be able to sleep at some point, and eat turkey! But I like having something to do during the day.

On the negative side of the week, I haven't had a chance to catch up with Missa (miss you terribly Hun), or see Maren as much as I would have liked while she was here. Saying goodbye last night was hard, and I cried most of the way home. Poor Adam didn't now what to do. So he did a happy love dance for me in Sobey's. Crazy nut. Crazy nut that I love to pieces.

Picking up wedding flowers (fake) on Saturday. can't wait to see how they look when I get them home and put them in our centerpieces!

Alice and Pascal are coming in tonigh to stay with us, and then traveling around to see people for the weekend. They leave for Switzerland on Tuesday. Alice - I want Christmas chocolate!!!! lol

I am now into my 11th year in the CF. Eleven years. That's a long time. Oy. But at the 12 mark I get a medal for long-service. So.... yay?

Well, off to do some work. Ish. LOL
