Congratulations ladies! I am so very happy for you!!!!!

Correction!

Make that 4 that I've applied for :)

Step 1

So today (or bright and early this morning) I applied to 2 jobs.

After our 9km hike on Canada Day, and our day on the golf course on Saturday, I recovered very well. 2 months ago we did 3 kms and I was down for 2 days with so much pain it may well have been winter again. So there's been a huge improvement. Also, my pain pills are dosage is 1/3 of what it was, so that's another point in the plus column.

All of this makes me think that I'm ready to go back to work. Or at least get ready to go back to work. To actively start looking. That is, ofcourse, step 1.

Although I feel loads better than I did, I'm not sure I'm ready to go back to the CF quite yet. I'm not 100%, and if they find that out they'll extend my medical restriction and possibly force me out. I"m not ready to deal with that quite yet. Also, in order to go back to work I have to pass the fitness test, which I am nowhere near ready for. I'm better for day to day life, but I'm not ready to start a running program, or to work on my upper body (which leads to tension in the muscles in my neck and shoulders, which leads to the damaged muscles clenches my nerves, which leads to the paralysis). I still need to keep my neck and shoulders relatively relaxed in order to keep my face normal, so jeopardizing that is not in the cards yet.

But hey - step 1.

No, thank you.

Okay, so eggplant parmigiana didn't work out so well. But I have another recipe to try for tomorrow! As seen on Rachel Rae!

Wish me luck...

Experimenting

So today I have a plan: I am going to make eggplant parmigiana for supper! It's a new recipe and I'm excited to try it. I need to pick up some gluten free stuff for the recipe, but it should be fun! However, I'm smart enough to know that I need to have a Plan B for supper in case it doesn't work out.

I'm super happy for Carla and Damian! Brendan was born at 1:07 am and is healthy! Congratulations Mom and Dad!

I finally found some gluten free crackers that I like. Yay! They rock with tzatziki :)

Planning to go kayaking on Friday, and looking forward to it. I haven't been out yet this season. Hopefully the weather will be good for us :)

Farewell Michael Jackson

The memorial service for Mj is on, and it's so sad to watch. He's a legend, and he's gone. I think the whole world should step down of their arrogant throwns and take a moment to appreciate everything he's given.

Michael single-handedly brought Motown into pop; he is one of the main creators of pop music, and a foundation of what music and entertaining is today.

He was, literally, the biggest star on Earth. That means something.

I lose a bit of respect for the people I know every time they speak ill of him.

The first tape I ever had was Bad. I used to sing to it and dance to it and pretend I was on stage with him.

Rest in Peace, dear Michael. You are above us now, and the judgment of those who did not know you. Rest in Peace, and may you now find the tranquility you have fought for through your whole life.

Go peacefully, go safely, and go with the Lord's embrace.

Shopping .....

What a day it's been already!

First I went birthday shopping for Adam (yay!!). Unfortunately, he knows what hes getting (he's not the easiest person to shop for), but I think he'll be excited just the same! I know I am! Eek!

Then I went to Walmart to shop for the house/me. I ended up getting containers to put all the nasty gluten stuff in, so it can be sealed away. Now I need to go get some bleach and work on the cupboards.....I also got a toaster over (on sale) so that I can use it on my gluten free bread. Should be good (I hope). I have no idea where I'm going to be putting everything..... I also got a under-the-bed storage container to put the chair sashes (for the wedding) in. I want things to start getting less cluttered and more organized. I'm soon going to be going through boxes getting rid of things. I hate that part, but if it's not part of my current life, it's not worth hanging on to (mostly). I mean, who really needs ALL their favourite stuffed animals from their childhood? (Yes, I have many.)

I'm super excited to be getting my hair trimmed today - it's been months and months since I've had anyone touch it. Yipee! (Yes I really am that excited)

Looking forward to making some progress in the kitchen here. Later.

Sunday evening wind-down

So I spent the day yesterday on the golf course with my man. He loves golf and I'm determined to give it a good fair try. It wasn't bad though - I enjoyed myself. Although I did get a bit frustrated around the 9th hole.... but I got over it and embraced the green. It wasn't too crowded (I assume because of the weather) but it wasn't all that bad. We didn't get rained on, which is a big plus!

Then we headed to the jewelery store to see a ring designer. Since my ring is an original and not part of a modern set, we need to have a ring made to fit with it. I'm the bride who will wear both together. So, the designer understood that I'm not that flashy of a person, and that I wanted something simple but elegant. So he came up with a wonderful design. It's all very exciting. And Adam found the band that he wants too, so our wedding bands are all set now! One more thing done.

Then we spent a nice evening together, watching a movie and recovering. The day turned out to be very long.

This morning we got up and made gluten free BLTs. It was wonderful! Oh I miss bread. The bread we used was gluten free, and not the best, but certainly not the worst. Perhaps there's salvation for me yet!
